If You Must (ver 4) by Nirvana This song is very easy, and i am sure i have most of this song dead on. INTRO/VERSE e-------------------------------------------------------------------------------| B---------------------------2---------------------------------------------------| G----333-------------3----2-----------------------------------------------------| D----333-----------3----2-------------------------------------------------------| A----111---------1--------------------------------------------------------------| E-------------------------------------------------------------------------------| The power chords in the beginning of the song are played with distortion and then the song drops into the verse- "I can read it, i can write it. i can breathe, proven fact. bless my greed, crease unfold. is it me or my attitude." This is the break after the first verse when a note in distortion is played and rings on and then you go back to clean to play the verse again. E--0---------------------------------------------------------------------- Let the open note ring on until the verse comes back. Now, you go back into the verse. "write some words, make them rhyme. pieces of the storyline. set the mood, something new. is it me or my attituddddddddddeeeeeeeeeeeee. now you play the open note in distortion again and as the drums escalate into the chorus just strum the open 0's on the low E string along with the drum rhythm. now, this is the chorus. just mess around with the timing to get it. e---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D-777----44----777----------------------------------------------------------| A-777----44----777--101010--------------------------------------------------| E-555----22----555--8-8--8--------------------------------------------------| "If you want to belong and you miss the extremes. act it out practicing, perfecting, pressuring, unto me, intooooo. play this chorus a lot of times. after the chorus the song goes into this like... wel i would call it the intro before the bridge. e------------------------------------------------------------------------| B------------------------------------------------------------------------| G------------------------------------------------------------------------| D--4(*)5-----------------------------------------------------------------| A--4---5-----------------------------------------------------------------| E--2---3-----------------------------------------------------------------| note: the (*) symbolizes that you play the power chord a lot of times( figure out the timing) and the power chord is palmuted. but the other power chord is not pal-muted and is only played once. play this part of the song a couple times. " i will wait in the fire to explain your asylum. idle times analyzing. well compare all or sightings. come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn." after this i believe you play the chorus a couple times without vocals and then it drops into the bridge. now this is the bridge... i don't believe this part of the song is right, but it was the best i could do. e---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D-7****5***2----------------------------------------------------------------| A-7****5***2----------------------------------------------------------------| E-5****3***0----------------------------------------------------------------| The *'s represent letting the chord ring. so let the chord ring then slide to the next chord. repeat the bridge a few times "i speak to hear my voiceeeeee". after that the song goes back into the verse. be really clumsy in this verse because it'll sound better and it's fun! after you play the verse play the open note and let it ring on the low E string as you did before. Now, go back to the verse and play a bit clumsy again. after that, play the open 0's on the Low E string escalating with the drum rhythm again. after that you play the chorus until the end of the song and you end the song on the 7 power chord. 7 5 last lyrics of the song: " unto me(7x)" - Nate f.
